Federal Skilled Worker Program
The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is a category of the economic immigration program in Canada. It is designed to attract skilled workers from around the world who can contribute to the Canadian economy and integrate into Canadian society.
The FSWP is a points-based system where applicants are assessed based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. Applicants must meet the minimum language requirements in either English or French, and have their educational credentials assessed to ensure that they are equivalent to Canadian standards.
To be eligible for the FSWP, applicants must also have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time skilled work experience in one of the eligible occupations. The eligible occupations are listed on the National Occupation Classification (NOC) website, and they are assessed based on skill level, type of work, and other factors.
In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements, applicants must also score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 to qualify for the FSWP. The highest-scoring applicants are then invited to apply for permanent residency through a points-based system called the Express Entry system.
The FSWP is an excellent option for skilled workers who are interested in immigrating to Canada permanently. It allows them to live and work in Canada as permanent residents, and eventually become Canadian citizens.
