International Experience Canada (IEC) is a program that allows young adults from certain countries to work and travel in Canada for up to two years. The program is designed to promote cultural exchange and provide young people with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in Canada.

To be eligible for the IEC program, applicants must:

  1. Be a citizen of a country that has a bilateral youth mobility agreement with Canada.

  2. Be between the ages of 18 and 35 (or 30 for some countries).

  3. Have a valid passport for the duration of their stay in Canada.

  4. Have sufficient funds to support themselves at the beginning of their stay in Canada.

  5. Meet the eligibility requirements for their chosen IEC category (there are three categories: Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op).

  6. Meet the health and security requirements for entry to Canada.

The IEC program operates on a quota system, with a limited number of spots available for each participating country and category. Applicants must create an online profile and submit an application to the IEC pool. If their application is accepted, they will be issued an invitation to apply for a work permit.

The IEC program can be a great opportunity for young people to gain valuable work experience and explore Canada’s culture and natural beauty. However, it’s important to carefully review the eligibility requirements and application process before applying, and to seek advice from a qualified immigration professional if necessary.
