Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship
Under Parents and Grandparents sponsorship program, the Canadian citizen or permanent resident can sponsor their parents and/or grandparents to become permanent resident of Canada and enjoy all the benefits that the permanent residency brings. The parents and/or grandparents can later on apply for Canadian citizenship once they satisfy the citizenship requirements.
The parents and/or grandparents can be related by blood or by adoption.

Eligibility Requirements
There are two applications that must be submitted under parents and grandparents program:
- the sponsorship application: completed by the sponsor. The sponsor is the a person in Canada who want to sponsor his parent and/or grandparent. The sponsor must satisfy the following requirements to be approved as a sponsor:
- he must be invited to apply
- must be at least 18 years old
- must live in Canada
- must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada
- must meet the minimum income requirements for the previous three years.
- the permanent residence application: completed by the parents and/or grandparents.
The Process
The parents and grandparents program operate a lottery system to select potential candidates.
The applicant must submit Interest to Sponsor form, once IRCC open the application process, before being placed in a pool. IRCC make random draw from the pool to select the potential applicants and send them Invitation to Apply.
The applicants and the sponsor then have 60 days to submit a complete application.
