If the study permit expires before the student finishes his study program, he must apply for an extension to continue studying. To be eligible to apply for extension, the following requirements must be satisfied:

• The renewal application was submitted before the current study permit expires
• The student is in a good standing in his study program
• The student complies with all the conditions imposed on his study permit and still comply with the study permit eligibility criteria

The student can continue studying after submitting the renewal application, even if his study permit expires, if the student remained in Canada since the expiry of the study permit and he continue to comply with the condition of his study permit.
